Petunia Hu
Theatre Artist|Journalist|Social Worker

About Me
Petunia is a producer, director, and playwright based between New York City and the UK. She is currently pursuing a BFA in Drama at NYU’s Playwrights Horizons Theatre School, with additional majors in Journalism and a minor in Social Work. Her artistic work is poetic, symbolic, and often absurd—yet always deeply personal—grappling with themes of immigration, female trauma, and queer relationships. Petunia is particularly passionate about reimagining classical literature and mythology through bold, contemporary lenses. When not in rehearsal, Petunia writes for the Arts section of Washington Square News. Her dream is to interview artists around the world while doing entertainment PR on the side. As an aspiring social worker on the side, she also dedicates time to supporting non-profit domestic violence programs such as Womankind and Sanctuary for Families in NYC.
